All managers use data to some extent. You said, "He is proper moneyball along with the the owner of Brentford". He clearly wasn't, and as Warburton said himself, it was him being at odds with the Brentford owner's moneyball philosophy on player transfers that was the reason he left.

I think you are going from one extreme to the other.
Warburton is very much a data man. Even in the bit you posted states how much the data analysis has been useful.
The specific bit is that he didn’t want all player signing to only be from what the computer spews out.

My brother in law is a statistician and worked for Diagio about 30 years ago. He was tasked with working out if it was cheaper to send the lorries one route from Kent to the Midlands or the current route they were taking. You have to feed in a lot of data with a bunch of variables.
Anyway the results suggested the new route would produce a huge saving. Which it did.
In football the problem is the extent to which the other team is countering your data driven plans and what other options you have.
Generally have a bunch of good lads is definitely a great starting point.

Yes, there's a tendency for people to use stats for confirmation bias, and they can easily be manipulated or cherrypicked. That's why stats are complete bollocks 97.8% of the time.

The thing with data, or information, is when yoi have it what yoi do with it which refers back to your core philosophies. If your philosophy is to be brave in attack you need to have data that confirms your principles. Back up your ideas so the players have maximum confidence to express their skills and mentality.
Just look at the England test team.

Wrong. He left because he didn't like players being bought based on stats. Here's what he said about his exit:
“The owner of the club is looking for a different direction, he wants to adopt a more European model, one with a sporting director and head coach, where the head coach hasn’t got the absolute veto on players coming into the club.
“In all truth it’s not a model that sat very comfortably with me and I think you have to be totally honest to take a club forward in the right way, and it didn’t sit right with myself, David or Frank.
“The owner Matthew’s business is statistical analysis of players in leagues around the world and it’s a magnificent resource we’ve tapped into over the last few months, we’ve utilised it really well.
“But with the new model, it looks like the club will recruit players more on that mathematical basis.
“Now, I don’t want to come across as old fashioned, but I just think there are certain responsibilities that are important to us as coaches and managers and I’d rather be honest about that now than continue working and have more concerns and worries down the line."

No, the opposite. He lost his job at Brentford because he didn't buy into the moneyball philosophy that the new owner wanted. Warburton is old school.

Some of these comments are proper odd. It's going to be nigh on impossible to separate out the performance level of Warburton, from the performance of say Paul Kevin, Kevin Nolan, Moyes, Newman, the Board, etc.
I'd like to know how Warburton could be judged by any fans as being better or worse than Pearce. The players might have an informed opinion, and you'd expect Moyes to be setting targets and monitoring his performance, so he would be the judge and jury, but anyone outside of that most likely wouldn't have a Danny La Rue.

One thing I like about this and Moyes, is he seems to appoint good people that will challenge him, push everyone further and could probably take Moyes's job. Not yes men that just do what Moyes says.
